Dave Matskinko
Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Dulcimer, Ukulele

Dave Matsinko has been making music most of his life. Born into a musical family, he has been playing the trumpet since age 7 and guitar for nearly 40 years. Dave became interested in old time music at an early age while listening to his grandfather play fiddle tunes during many “house jams”. At age 16, Dave got his start playing trumpet in the 9 piece “Chicago” style rock band “Icarus”. He played with the "Big Band Ambassadors" for over 30 years and currently plays the trumpet with the "Faculty Brass".
Traditional music has remained his passion to this day.

As an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, in addition to guitar and trumpet, Dave also plays banjo, mountain dulcimer, penny whistle, bass, mandolin, and fiddle. He has studied old time banjo with Tom Druckenmiller and has been influenced by the dulcimer playing of Bing Futch, Don Pedi and Stephen Seifert.

In his everyday life, Dave is a (recently) retired teacher of the Lehighton Area School District where he had incorporated music into his Learning Support and
Multiple Disabilities classrooms for many years
